A prayer for advocates through Holy Week and beyond

God of bread and cup,
God of cross and empty tomb,

As we walk again the holy path—from palms to passion,
from the table to the garden,
from the cross to the silence of the tomb—
keep us near to Jesus.

When the cries of the world are loud—
the hungry still waiting,
the unhoused still searching,
the weary still burdened—
remind us that you are not absent in suffering,
but revealed within it.

In this Holy Week,
give us courage like those who stood at the cross,
faith like those who waited in the dark,
and love that does not turn away.

For those called to advocacy—
for the friends and leaders engaged with LAMA,
for all who speak, organize, and accompany—
renew our calling.
Let our voices carry hope,
our work reflect justice,
and our presence embody your mercy.

On Easter morning,
when death has done its worst and still cannot win,
open our eyes to resurrection—
not only in the garden long ago,
but in every act of justice,
every shared meal,
every system bent toward dignity and life.

Bless us, O God,
with resurrection courage:
to rise again after discouragement,
to believe again when change feels slow,
to act again in love, even when it costs us.

And send us out—
as people of the risen Christ,
as witnesses to a hope that cannot be buried,
as partners in your renewing work in the world.

In the name of the crucified and risen one,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Easter Blessing

May the risen Christ meet you
in your work and in your weariness.

May you carry resurrection
into the halls of power and the margins alike.

And may the Spirit of God—
who brings life out of death—
sustain you, strengthen you,
and send you forward in hope.

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia.
