Grand Canyon Synod Grant awarded to LAMA

Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona (LAMA) is the proud and grateful recipient of a Grand Canyon Synod (GCS) grant in the amount of $3,885, for a one-year subscription to Skywolf, a legislative bill tracking software.

As of Tuesday, February 17, there were a total of 1,966 Bills, Memorials & Resolutions introduced in the 2026 Arizona Legislative session; with so many bills being introduced each year, it takes a major effort to sort and track the bills that LAMA is concerned about without the aid of legislative tracking software.

LAMA is currently tracking the following, based on our policy priorities of Hunger, Civic Engagement, Healthcare and Housing:

  • 24 Hunger

  • 58 Civic Engagement (Voting)

  • 92 Healthcare

  • 26 Housing

  • 25 Economic Security

Skywolf software offers state-of-the-art tools for searching, tracking and reporting on legislation. This AI-driven, user-friendly software is the future of legislative intelligence. This year’s Skywolf 2.0 version is an even better tool. $3500 is for the Individual Plan (the Pro Plan for $5000 allows access two new powerful tools: Meeting Transcripts and Bill Comparison) whose base cost will stay the same, but they’re adding sales tax, which will add $385 to the final cost.

About the Grand Canyon Synod Grant

The GCS Grant is intended to support a specific new or continuing project that serves one, two, or three of the Grand Canyon Synod Strategic Plan goals. The maximum amount that may be awarded for a successful application is $15,000.  A project that is demonstrably innovative and new will be given priority in the funding process; it is likely that continuing projects will receive reduced funding from previous years.

Eligibility: An applicant for this grant must be an organized congregation, a Synodically Authorized Worshipping Community (SAWC), or a Strategic Ministry of the Grand Canyon Synod, or an organization or institution in good standing with the ELCA or the Grand Canyon Synod.

We believe this will impact the synod as we seek to:

Communicate JesusGrow our public witness through advocacy, integrating our ELCA theology and engagement with current issues and contextual realities.

Connect PeopleFoster a spirit of collaboration and intentional connection across the Synod as we participate in Synod events.
