Watch & Share: Bishop Hutterer Invites You to the 2025 Lenten Challenge

Bishop Deborah Hutterer has recorded a special invitation video for all congregations and ministries to use in promoting this year’s challenge. This short video outlines the challenge, its connection to the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission (NELM) in Rock Point, AZ, and how your participation makes an impact.

Watch the video, share it with your congregation, and invite others to join in this meaningful Lenten journey!

What Is the Lenten Challenge?

The Lenten Challenge is a commitment to three of four spiritual practices during Lent:

  • Daily Devotion – Reflect with Scripture and prayer.

  • Daily Diligence – Learn about water justice and conservation.

  • Daily Dedication – Engage in worship, community, and advocacy.

  • Daily Donation – Give $1 a day (or more) to Lutheran Disaster Response, supporting NELM’s efforts to provide safe drinking water.

This challenge unites all five ELCA synods in Region 2 in a friendly competition to see which synod can sign up the most participants. More importantly, it’s a chance to strengthen our faith, deepen our commitment to justice, and support Indigenous ministry.

How to Use This Video

  • Play it during worship or Bible study.

  • Share it on social media or in your congregation’s email newsletter.

  • Encourage individuals and families to sign up and take part in the challenge.

Let’s make this year’s Lenten Challenge the most impactful yet!
