This webinar will explore Lutheran Social Service’s role in public policy advocacy. Public policy advocacy is not partisan or political, it is a form of ministry in which LSS-SW has engaged over our 50-year history. LSS-SW will describe their past and current advocacy work to meet the needs of those they serve, as well as how individuals can partner with them to meet their current goals and fulfill our mission.
In the coming year, Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest will be focusing our advocacy efforts around 4 core areas:
Basic Needs: hunger and housing
Community Based Senior Support
Child and Vulnerable Adult Welfare
Immigration
By pushing for public policy advocacy in these areas, they will advocate for the well-being of people they serve, including: individuals experiencing homeless and food insecurity, older adults, children and adults with disabilities, refugees, and immigrants. Advocacy gives us another way to engage in our democracy. Join them in their mission to stabilize lives in times of crisis, build foundations for people to thrive, and preserve dignity and respect for the most vulnerable.
