Martha (center) with Rev. Mike Girlinghouse of LCM Canterbury, and students from NAU at Lutheran Day at the Legislature.

Martha is originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming, where her interest in the church and the community of Christ began. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree in instrumental conducting from Northern Arizona University.

Her passion for the work of Christ was fed during years of involvement as a camper and staff at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp. Working with young people has always been an important part of her life.

Martha taught music in Arizona for ten years and owned a music store in Flagstaff where community service was a vital piece of core values.

She has been very active at Living Christ Lutheran Church (Flagstaff), where she served as a Stephen Minister and also a Stephen Leader. She has served on the board and as staff at NAU Lutheran Campus Ministry, now LCM Canterbury.

She is a court appointed special advocate (CASA) where she advocates for children in foster care. Martha is eager to join the LAMA council and be a part of advocating from a faith perspective..

Please join LAMA in welcoming Martha Garner to the Policy Council, and encourage her through prayer and accompaniment in this important work.
