Arizona’s emergency food assistance system, along with countless partners and resources from all levels of government ~ including LAMA ~ successfully prevented food insecurity from skyrocketing during the pandemic. But with 1 in 5 kids in Arizona and 1 in 7 Arizonans overall still facing food insecurity, long-term systemic solutions are critical.
What changes would you make—to policies, initiatives, or community-led efforts—to eliminate hunger and its root causes in your community? We need your expertise!
The Arizona Food Bank Network (AzFBN) is partnering with WHEAT and the Alliance to End Hunger to host a Zoom listening session on hunger, nutrition, and health on June 29 at 1:30pm. We will gather and share Arizona-specific input with the White House, as the Administration prepares for its national Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in September. We want to make sure the voices of all Arizonans are heard.
Join us on Wednesday, June 29, from 1:30–3:30pm, on Zoom, to talk about hunger, nutrition, and health in Arizona. Register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEqfuytqz4rHdagRX5H1ITlZiZpxCvRkyhL.
The intention of the White House Conference is to develop a roadmap to “end hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030, so that fewer Americans experience diet-related diseases like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.” We hope you’ll share your expertise and ideas for improving food access and affordability, integrating nutrition and health, and empowering healthy choices. What actions do you think governments, private companies, nonprofit groups, and others should take to make a difference? What innovative, successful activities are already happening in your community that could be expanded?
The insight you share will be included in a written report that we will submit to the White House by July 15.
Your voice is important! Please join AzFBN and our partners on Wednesday, June 29, at 1:30pm.
