HAF New Year’s Devotional: Brave Leadership Advances Flames of Hope

ELCA World Hunger’s Hunger Advocacy Fellows have teamed up to write a series of weekly devotionals for the ELCA Advocacy Blog. The series reflects on one of the year’s early lectionary texts, Ephesians 3:10. Follow along as each Fellow discusses what they wish to see from our candidates for office during this election year.

Week 2: Brave Leadership Advances the Flames of Hope

The second weekly devotion was written by Erin Brown, Hunger Advocacy Fellow at the Lutheran Office For World Community (LOWC) in New York City. In her devotional, Erin reflects on the necessity of hope in a world full of systemic crises and conflict. Erin tells us about the prayer services LOWC and their multifaith partners have been participating in since October and writes about the impact of meeting with members of Flame of Hope and the commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life work. Erin asks us a series of reflection questions, including, “What prayers for the future would you add to the Flame of Hope?
